Continual vs continuous improvement

Bismillah...
As recalled from ISO training at IIUM library...

Continuous improvement indicate small but regular progress and improvement. It normally involves upgrading and enhancing the existing system, situation and environment.

On the other hand, continual improvement imply huge changes that may effect the whole or most parts of the existing system and situation.

Let apply this understanding to my profession as librarian...hmmm...

by the way, who is librarian = Merriam Webster define it as "a specialist in the care or management of a library"

continual professional development maybe.. instead of being specialist in the care & management of library... I can be a researcher of that specialty (part or whole)... Think beyond the box!

What do you think???
