Cross tabulation

Bismillah

Cross tabulation is about taking two variables and tabulating the results of one variable against the other variable. For example, in a market research survey of various age groups on frist things that they will buy at Katmandu Sale!. The two variables are: first, various age groups, (10-20, 21-30, 31-40, etc...) and second various goods of sale..

A cross-tabulation gives you a basic picture of how two variables inter-relate. It helps you search for patterns of interaction.

What we normally do is to calculate the Chi-square statistic to see if this pattern has any substantial relevance.
